Groceries

Alright. I am trying to figure out how much is a reasonable amount to spend on groceries. How much do you all spend a month??

I spend about $400 for my family of 5/6 (baby doesn't eat much!) I don't know if this is high or low.

We spend over $500. (My grocery budget includes diapers and wipes.) I don't want to know how much of that goes to our lovely Diet Coke habit. But I always look for deals everywhere I go.

Your girls are SO cute! We Love girls! (And I love their names!)

i've never been very good at smart shopping but since we've moved here to CT, the most expensive place on earth to live:), I've gotten really into couponing and it's saved us a ton. you have to spend a bit to get started, i.e. i order the sunday paper to get coupons, and it you get extra care bucks at CVS, it there's one by you, you can also save a chunk of change on toiletries, etc. if you're at all interested you can sign up for something called the grocery game for a $1 trial month, figure out how the system works and then cancel or pay $5 a month per grocery store for them to figure out the rock bottom deals for you. anyway, maybe you already knew all this and have tried this before and gotten sick of it. i get see it getting old. but if not, maybe it can save you money. my sister-in-law is a genius at it and she will walk out of the grocery store with $300 worth of stuff for $50. i still haven't figured out how she does that but it can be done. hope you guys are doing well!

I have a budget of $1000 but remember that I spend about $20 a pound on chicken right now so that isn't much to compare to. And that includes all household items (diapers, detergents, etc..) as well.
Before we moved I spent about $400 on all that stuff each month but I'm not much of a coupon cutter. I think I could have done better. I have some friends that spent a lot less that did those coupon clubs but I just didn't get into it. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I'm not good at doing coupons/shopping around either. And there is no Aldi's here :(

I mostly shop at Kroger's here. There generic brand is pretty cheap and they have some good deals.

I would say that I spend roughly $80+ a week, not including diapers, formula, household items, etc. And we don't eat that great...it makes me feel bad. I can't wait for the days that I can make a roast, or ribs or whatever and not worry about it.

I try to spend less than $400 a month. But there is just 3 of us and Hailey doesn't eat much. Just poops a lot in diapers. Dang diapers.

Well, you already know that my grocery bill is out. of. control. We spend at least $800/mo. That includes diapers, housebhold products, paper products, and cosmetics.

Man, I want to move in with some of your friends! Chris and I eat like poor students (we try to keep it at about $200-250/mo, not including eating out a couple times, which explains why I am always apoligizing to chris for not feeding him well) but we don't have any extra little mouths to feed. My problem is that snacks are a must. Whenever I read about how to save money on food the first thing they say is don't eat out and the second is cut out the snacks. I say boo to both of those, let me have what little enjoyment I get in life!
